Today, Sunday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced that there are more than 33,000 Iraqi citizens in Denmark, while Danish Foreign Minister J Kofod indicated his country's commitment with NATO to help Iraq in its war against ISIS.
Hussein said in a press conference held with his Danish counterpart J Kofod that "the Iraqi community in Denmark reaches more than 33,000 Iraqi citizens, and most of them have become Danish citizens."
He added, "We talked with the Danish Foreign Minister about the Iraqi community there, and how to work together and encourage the community to be a link and bridge between the Iraqi and Danish communities."
He continued, "We also talked about bilateral issues between the two countries, especially trade relations, and how to support and invite Danish companies to work in Iraq."
He pointed out that "Denmark is an agricultural country, but it is industrial at the same time, and we need to work jointly with it," noting that "Danish companies can help Iraq in various fields, including agriculture and agricultural industry."
He expressed his thanks to the State of Denmark for its "participation in the international coalition and the war on ISIS," stressing that "the efforts of Denmark and the Danish government are tangible in Iraq."
He explained that "Denmark has a role in NATO, as the latter trained the Iraqi armed forces."
He pointed out that "the State of Denmark has helped the reconstruction of the liberated areas, which were destroyed due to terrorist gangs of ISIS," noting that "the Danish foreign minister has an extensive program and will meet with Iraqi officials and will return today to his country."
He stressed, "We have future meetings, and we talked about how to build means to strengthen joint work between the two countries," noting that "the successive visits to Baghdad by foreign ministers are evidence that Baghdad has become a center for diplomatic activity in the region and the world."
For his part, the Danish Foreign Minister confirmed that he "discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries," noting "his country's commitment with NATO to support Iraq in its war against ISIS."
