{Local: Al Furat News} The International Accreditation Committee for National Human Rights Institutions in Geneva decided unanimously to grant the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq an “A” rating as the highest global rating granted to active and active national institutions at the national, regional and international levels.
The acquisition of the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq is the result of efforts, work and regional and international communication that continued for four years with the evaluation of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
It is noteworthy that the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq was accredited for the first time in August 2015 with a classification (B) for not fully complying with the normative foundations in accordance with the Paris Principles established for national institutions.
The international classification (A) allows the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq to enjoy full observer status in the Human Rights Council in Geneva, like observer countries, participate in all sessions of the International Human Rights Council, submit written statements to the Human Rights Council, attend consultations, negotiate draft resolutions and present reports Special procedures in sessions of international human rights committees, organizing events inside the United Nations building in Geneva, occupying leadership positions in the Council, and other privileges
