The Presidency of the Republic discloses the categories covered by the general amnesty
Shafaq News/ The Presidency of the Iraqi Republic revealed on Tuesday that those convicted of terrorism, corruption and the exploitation of public money were not included in the general amnesty that included more than 500 convicts.
A source in the presidency told Shafaq News Agency, that the amnesty recommendation was issued by the Council of Ministers in its session on September 30, 2021, and was nominated by the Ministry of Justice.
He added that the amnesty includes groups of women and juveniles under the age of 18 only.
On September 30, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi announced that his government had issued a recommendation to the judicial authorities to issue a special amnesty for convicted juvenile and women prisoners, with the exception of cases of terrorism and financial and administrative corruption.
And a document issued by the Presidency of the Iraqi Republic showed the approval of a special amnesty for 571 convicts, days before the end of the current presidential session.
