The Iraqi elections... $700,000 spent on the Facebook platform only
The network stated in a report issued by it, that "43,900 political ads were published on the Facebook platform, which has 20 million users from Iraq."
He added, "The advertisements were done for the period between August-October 2021, and nearly one billion Iraqi dinars were spent on them, as Baghdad topped the provinces with the highest spending, then the provinces of Sulaymaniyah and Erbil."
The network indicated that "Facebook" announced last July the inclusion of Iraq among the countries in which political ads are restricted with the approach of the recent elections, and indicated that it will archive the details of political advertising campaigns for many years to allow users to refer to them.
According to the network, Facebook approved several ads in different governorates, and Facebook's data did not show accurate amounts for the ads, in addition to the use of some pages of traditional manipulation in writing phrases with political content to bypass their discovery by Facebook's algorithms, such as adding punctuation between Letters of words so that they are humanly intelligible and cannot be detected mechanically.
