Facebook in Iraq .. Political campaigns raging with fake pages with the near elections
Release date: 2017/5/21
With all the elections in Iraq approaching, the social networking sites [Facebook], Twitter and others are crowded with news, accusations and the publication of "scandals" and accusations of corruption, defamation and defamation, which almost became a phenomenon for the Iraqi street.
As soon as one surfs Facebook in Iraq, many of the pages backed by an adverb go up to the front of the political party or to that minister or accuse deputies of corruption or else of labor and conspiracy.
Although all these pages, labeled with fake names, publish their allegations against officials without credibility and do not live up to the truth, other pages already show official documents exposing financial and administrative corruption in the country or imagine it in such a way until the accused politicians respond to recruits or Justified.
One of these pages accused a parliament member of appointing Iraqi citizens in the state departments in return for large bribes, revealing the name of the department and the value of bribery and the publication of another site official document of a government institution renewing its cars in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in the throes of financial crisis and a third caught a gap in a government official and market As a hostile attitude to the Iraqi security services.
And prompted the atmosphere charged and raging many Iraqi politicians to diagnose the situation and call to stop and devote effort to what is more important, while analysts believe that the politicians themselves are behind the phenomenon.
According to MPs, the start of the phantom war of pages came in tandem with the approaching legislative elections likely to be held about a year from now.
"They are aimed at creating chaos in the Iraqi political process by accusing political figures, Iraqi leaders and deputies of corruption, but they lack evidence," they said, calling it "political projection."
"Other MPs demanded that anyone who has any documents or information on corruption cases resort to the judiciary or the media and not defamation through fake pages that are unprofessional and irrelevant to reality."
"The absence of a healthy environment to compete for the votes of the public and the use of side-tracks to influence public opinion away from the usual methods of political competition such as the introduction of programs and plans of projects that serve the citizen."
They see that "the failure of performance, which has become a feature of many political and executive events left a negative impact in the public can not be treated by these forces and therefore become unreliable for him is not and does not raise the logic.
They pointed out that these political parties are unable to disclose the identity of the real already challenged by the public and therefore used fake platforms and curtains names of people and imaginary to pass messages to the public.
They saw that "the parties of power and the influential governments and state institutions are the first to enact this bad habit and returned today to complain about it and its consequences."
The Iraqi judiciary reveals its frank opinion in this regard, where the publication of statements of libel and insult and accusation without evidence, through the site of social communication crime and aggravated by the law, stressing that the sites of social communication from the media referred to in the Iraqi Penal Code.
The judiciary also considered the site of social communication [Facebook] of public means and that the dissemination of slander phrases through it is published in one of the public means to tighten the penalty on the perpetrator of the fact that Facebook pages are available to the public has been recognized by the judiciary in this decision an important principle when counting Facebook Openly and despite the differences of views raised by this resolution, but it is a deterrent to the perpetrators of this type of crimes. "
"The need for such laws, which are not aimed at restricting freedom of opinion and expression, is aimed at protecting people from the possibility of abuse of this right, which is happening in Iraq in many ways, which exceed the standards adopted for freedom of opinion and expression and harm the people, It may be necessary to punish offenders with enough sanctions to deter them from committing their crimes to limit what is happening on Facebook pages of violating the rights and privacy of others.
