    Information / Baghdad...
On Tuesday, former MP Manar Abdul-Muttalib warned against the electrical connection with Saudi Arabia, as it makes Iraq a prisoner of it, in addition to it draining the country's wealth.
Abdul Muttalib said in an interview with Al-Information, "The idea of importing electricity from any country, including Saudi Arabia, is not acceptable because Iraq is a country with great capabilities and natural resources capable of self-sufficiency in the energy file, wondering what is the feasibility of importing electricity from Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia." These are countries that do not have the capabilities of Iraq.”
And she added, "The electrical connection with Saudi Arabia or any other country is a drain on Iraq's wealth, stressing that, for example, importing 100 megawatts from Riyadh will reach Baghdad, 25 megabytes due to the lack of transmission lines and the distance, considering what is happening as a drain on the country's wealth."
She pointed out that "through the funds allocated to electrical interconnection projects from Saudi Arabia and others, projects can be financed to improve the energy file, maintain the operation of stations and save fuel, pointing out that the connection will make Iraq in a difficult situation because these countries control the energy file in terms of supplies or cutting, and this leads to to crises.”
National forces and personalities criticize the electrical connection with Saudi Arabia, amid question marks about its economic feasibility
