Baghdad - Mawazine News
On Tuesday, the New Generation Parliamentary Bloc issued an invitation to the Kurdistan government after the judiciary’s decision today regarding the unconstitutionality of the oil and gas law in the region.
A statement of the bloc, of which Mawazine News received a copy, stated, "We in the New Generation Bloc believe that it is very necessary that this law and what is related to the future of this file be in the interest of transparency and serving the citizens, and that all files of oil and gas contracts in the region and Iraq in general be revealed. And that no file should remain secret, even if it is necessary to review these files in a format that is in the interest of all citizens in Kurdistan and Iraq and not in the interest of a group, party or partisan companies, and not to allow a small percentage of them to be for citizens.
The statement continued, that it is very necessary that the oil file throughout Iraq be transparent, and that there be a supervisory body over it, so that oil and gas imports are at the service of citizens, and that these imports are clear and open, and that they do not go to the service of parties or partisan companies.
He added, "Nevertheless, it is very important that the constitution voted by the Iraqi people be respected, bearing in mind that the Federal Court has relied on Article 112 of the Iraqi Constitution, which states in the second paragraph of it the following:
- (The federal government and the governments of the regions and productive provinces together By drawing the strategic policies necessary to develop oil and gas wealth), and because the decision did not address the difference between contracts concluded before 2003 and other contracts concluded before this date, and did not address Article 141 of the constitution itself, which referred to contracts prior to writing the constitution, so the regional government must To listen and obey the voice of the citizens and the opposition, as they constantly demand and emphasize transparency, the independence of the law, and the withdrawal of the energy sector from the hands of the two ruling parties. Failure to listen to the opposition and its continuation of the current policy puts the region and its people in front of a greater catastrophe in the future.
The statement continued, "The regional government should also work to address the accumulated problems with the federal government, because the accumulation of these problems more will pave the way for the Federal Court and other parties to hold the regional government accountable."
The statement concluded, that we must know well that when the PUK and the KDP marginalize the institutions of the Kurdistan region and make them of no value and refuse to listen to the voice of the opposition and experts, then they will remain alone when they face or are exposed to any problem, and therefore no party will defend their decisions, whether from By citizens, opposition or experts.
