The head of the Iraqi Economy Alliance, Uday Al-Alawi, confirmed today, Friday, that the Iraqi government is hoarding money, while poverty has “desecrated” the Iraqi people.
Al-Alawi said, “It is assumed that there will be an urgent trial for each person who caused the spread of poverty among the Iraqi people,” stressing that “there are approximately 40% of the people below the poverty line because of the price of the dollar.”
He added, "The Iraqi government is hoarding money and has $17 billion, an increase in the balance of the Central Bank of Iraq, which has become 62 billion, and it is at the expense of 40% of the citizens."
He pointed out that “the central bank succeeded in raising the dollar at the expense of the poor, and there should be hosting to follow up the performance of the central bank, control the exchange rate, and follow up and hold accountable all those who caused this rise and increase in the prices of materials, which is due to the state’s management of the economic file and not because of the merchants, as some say.”
