He explained, "The company contracted with one of the Iraqi companies specialized in food to provide the food basket items," noting that "this contract came as a result of Cabinet Resolution 160, which provides 6 basic items in addition to flour to all those covered by the ration card system."

He added, "This system contributed to securing the Iraqi food situation, especially in light of the sharp rise in food prices," referring to the company's efforts to monitor the Iraqi market by following up on the reports of the supervisory teams at the Ministry's center, as well as taking quick measures and preventing price increases from By pumping large quantities of food through the ration card.

He pointed out, "The Ministry of Commerce's plan for the next year aims to increase the number of meals prepared for citizens, in addition to increasing the number of items within the basket, and thus achieve Iraqi food security."

The Ministry of Commerce confirmed, earlier, the existence of a contract with a private sector company to provide the vocabulary of the "food basket" for the next five years.

The ministry stated in a statement received by "Nass", a copy of it (February 25, 2022), that "a ship loaded with 44,000 tons of rice arrived at the southern ports for the food basket."

She added, "A marketing plan has been prepared to deliver it to all governorates after completing the laboratory examinations (biological and physical)."

And the ministry's statement continued, "The rice is among the contracts that the private sector conducts through the investing company to provide the food basket."

The statement confirmed, "there is an agreement that will last for several years, according to which and based on Resolution 160 issued by the Council of Ministers, as the private sector provides the food basket items."
