Shafaq News/ Representative of the State of Law coalition, Alia Nassif, announced today, Monday, her intention to question the mayor of Baghdad in the House of Representatives about several files, noting that he has appointed his relatives to senior positions in the secretariat.
Nassif said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that the parliament will witness the interrogation of the Mayor of Baghdad on a number of files that contain violations, including his appointment of people from outside the secretariat, including a number of his relatives, to high positions such as real estate and design departments, without obtaining official approvals. "The interrogation will include opening other important files that will be presented at the time, in addition to files around which there are suspicions of corruption, such as compensation for farmers."
And yesterday, Sunday, Nassif demanded the Prime Minister to dismiss the mayor of Baghdad "immediately", accusing him of assaulting the assistant director of the Shula municipality and attacking the municipality workers in Aden Square.
The Iraqi parliament, in its new form, has not questioned any official so far, except for its request to host Finance Minister Ali Allawi to discuss the issue of changing the currency rate, but the latter refused to attend.
The first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, said that the parliament "will interrogate the Minister of Finance for his failure to attend the meeting."
