Integrity: Judgment in presence convicting a deputy from the previous session
Shafaq News / The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Wednesday, the issuance of a judicial decision convicting a member of the House of Representatives for the previous session; for a waste of public money.
The Commission's Investigation Department stated, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "the Karbala Misdemeanors Court issued a conviction against a member of the House of Representatives for the previous session, in the case in which the Commission investigated and referred it to the judiciary, for causing him to waste public money."
The department added, "The convict, who was dean of the University College of Hilla, concluded a musataha contract with a large exaggeration in financial allowance with a female accountant at the college, for the purpose of expanding the college buildings, as she is the owner of the property that was contracted."
The department stated, "The rent for the plot of land that was contracted amounted to (100,000,000) million dinars for a period of (50) years, noting that the land area is (5) dunams, pointing out that the contract burdened the college with high debts, knowing that the college does not need This contract affected the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s share of (3%) of the college’s income.”
The commission’s investigations department indicated that “the court, after perusal of the evidence obtained in the case, represented by the testimony of the complainant, the legal representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Babylon Agriculture Directorate, in addition to the investigations of the Financial Supervision Bureau, which diagnosed financial and administrative violations, and the results of the investigation in the work of the investigation. He concluded that the defendants were negligent and admitted to having concluded the contract contrary to the legal contexts, and the testimonies of witnesses, and I found them to be sufficient and convincing to convict the defendants.
The authority’s statement concluded, “The court ruled against the convict in presence of a fine, based on the provisions of Article (331) and in the meaning of the Articles of Participation (47, 48 and 49) of the Penal Code.”
