Iraq is preparing to launch a new population policy for birth control and reproductive health next July on the occasion of World Population Day.
The head of the Central Bureau of Statistics in the Ministry of Planning, Dia Awad Kazem, said in a statement, "The ministry does not have an accurate statistic about the population numbers as a result of the lack of a census so far, but estimates indicate that 41 million people have been reached," noting that "the population increase continues at an increasing pace." What requires control.
Kazem added, "The ministry is preparing on the occasion of World Population Day to launch a document (population policies) next July, as it focuses on birth control and reproductive health, as well as the factors affecting that increase."
Kazem noted, "It is difficult to reduce fertility rates, without having policies drawn up in this regard to be gradually reduced, as birth control cannot be imposed legally, because it is considered a right of the family, but this will be done through awareness programs to organize reproductive health, and pointing out to reduce the number of births and the spacing between them.
And he indicated that "this program needs joint efforts with the ministries of health, labor and social affairs, as well as the role of the big media," noting that "the Ministry of Planning will allocate funds for this project because of its great importance." finished/25
