, a representative of the Sadiqoun bloc, Zainab Juma al-Moussawi, warned today, Saturday, of a coming health disaster in Iraq.
Al-Moussawi said in a statement received by Mawazine News, a copy of it, that "the number of cholera cases is on the rise, according to the official statistics of the Iraqi Ministry of Health, and what is happening now in some Iraqi governorates of high infections is the result of water pollution coinciding with high temperatures."
The statement added, "It is necessary to form a committee composed of the ministries of health, environment, water resources and departments in the relevant governorates in order to reduce the contamination of lye and drinking water and the main and secondary rivers, which is the main carrier of cholera."
And he indicated that "the spread of cholera is like wildfire, especially since the health system in Iraq suffers from fragility in its bones, in addition to the spread of financial and administrative corruption in all its joints."
In the statement, Al-Moussawi called on "citizens to review health centers or hospitals near their homes in the event that these symptoms appear, diarrhea, intestinal infections, or vomiting." Ended 29/M99
