Today, Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Environment warned a number of foreign companies operating in the oil sector in Iraq in the southern fields for violating the provisions of Article 20 and not adhering to environmental controls.

The Director General of the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Southern Region, Walid Al-Moussawi, said in a statement, "Oil companies operating in the oil fields are obligated to treat pollutants resulting from extractive and exploratory operations by adopting modern technologies in treating oil pollution resulting from these operations in order to reduce the level of pollution." .

He added, "The Basra Environment Directorate informed a number of foreign oil companies of the need to remove environmental violations because of their negative effects on the environment and public health, and the ministry will later announce the names of those companies after completing strict procedures against them in accordance with the law," noting that "environmental teams conduct inspection tours." It continues on the oil sites and activities of these companies to see the environmental reality and field monitoring of them.
