, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, issued a statement on the eighth anniversary of the genocide against the Yazidis, while indicating that justice for the victims is a duty, and holding the perpetrators accountable is a right that will not fall.
In a statement received by Mawazine News, Saleh said: "We remember with pain the eighth anniversary of the genocide perpetrated by ISIS against our Yazidi people and aimed at ending their existence. It is a sad page that shakes human consciences for a crime that did not differentiate between a man and a woman, children and adults in age, and embodied one of the ugliest acts the world had seen in modern history.”
He added, "Retribution against the perpetrators of this crime is a duty and a right that will not fall, and we stress the importance of continuing the efforts of the United Nations and the international community to hold those involved in this crime against humanity accountable and bring them to justice, and to expose and document violations so that future generations and the world will bear witness to the vile terrorist groups that have tried to tamper with our country."
He pointed out, "The adoption of the law of Yazidi survivors is the least duty, and we must continue to work on redress, compensation and empowerment of the victims, and to ensure the safe and stable return of the displaced Yazidis to their city of Sinjar and its reconstruction, in addition to revealing about 2,700 kidnapped of our sons and daughters whose fate is still unknown, and to strengthen the effort The internal and international levels to achieve this without complacency.” Ended 29 / h
