On Thursday, Representative of the Al-Sadiqoon Parliamentary Bloc, Suhaila Al-Sultani, clarified the obstacles standing in the way of dissolving parliament and holding new elections.
Al-Sultani said in an interview with the Information Agency, that "the leaders of the coordination framework support any solution in order to get out of the current political impasse, but not at the expense of Iraq's crisis situation, but rather to serve the country in the first place and for the benefit of the general people."
She added, “Holding new elections is not easy; Because there are many obstacles, the most prominent of which is changing the electoral law, and this is a basic demand of the framework and the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr and the Federal Court,” noting that “the electronic counting and sorting mechanism must be abolished in addition to changing the entire current electoral commission.”
And she added, "Many laws and legislation related to elections must be approved within the House of Representatives, in addition to the intervention of international observers, the presence of human armies to carry out the process, and finally the disbursement of huge sums, although the country is more deserving of these sums than the elections."
The representative of the Sadiqoun bloc explained that “holding early elections amid these difficulties will not take place before a year or a year and a half from now; Because these preparations, preparations and legal legislation require a long time.”
The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ayed Al-Hilali, confirmed, today, Thursday, that the coordination framework with the dissolution of Parliament and the call for early elections in order to avoid Iraq falling into a dangerous political slip and to deter foreign strife.
