Al-Sudani announces an expansion of an oil refinery in southern Iraq, which will contribute to reducing the import of gasoline
Shafaq News/ The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, announced the start of work on the Al-Shinafiyah refinery expansion project in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, southern Iraq, in the first station of his inspection visit to the governorate, which he arrived this morning, Saturday.
Al-Sudani affirmed the government's determination to develop the oil sector and complete projects that meet the citizens' need for fuel.
He also said that designs have been put in place for the expansion of the Shinafiyah refinery, which will increase the production capacity of the refinery from 20,000 barrels per day to 90,000 barrels per day, in addition to a refining unit with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day, stressing that it was directed that production be in line with requirements. environmental.
The Prime Minister stated that this increase will contribute to reducing the import of gasoline and gas oil, and providing surplus quantities of liquid gas and fuel oil products, which have great economic returns. The project will also provide up to 3,000 job opportunities to employ local workers.
The commencement ceremony of the expansion of the project was attended by the Governor of Diwaniyah and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refineries Affairs.
