confirmed, on Sunday, that the Ministry of Commerce distanced itself from responding to the published "leaked videos", which it said "aimed at misleading Iraqi public opinion" about the ministry's activities in securing the ration card items in light of the global economic crisis and the Ukrainian-Russian war.
The ministry stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the misleading campaign practiced by certain parties by leaking videos to mislead public opinion about what the government and the ministry have accomplished in issuing the food security law and preparing the ration card items over 11 meals."
She added, "It distances itself from responding and assuming responsibility for those who try to mislead public opinion through leaked videos aimed at misleading, distorting facts, and thwarting the ministry's role in securing the ration card items for citizens."
And she continued, "It succeeded in securing food security for the Iraqis after the approval of the food law, which contributed to providing the items of the ration card, and Iraq did not fall into the effects of what is happening in the world in terms of a significant increase in food prices."
She pointed out that "the Bureau of Financial Supervision, the Integrity Commission, and the supervisory authorities in the ministry work 24 hours a day to check all contracts made by the ministry in securing the ration card items, and that the bureau's reports are taken seriously and are dealt with immediately."
She pointed out that "its doors are open to receive all oversight authorities to check the information and numbers received, most of which are inaccurate, aiming to defame and mislead public opinion."
