    Baghdad / Obelisk: Sources revealed a financial supervisory report indicating the sale of projects in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate Office, while the employee who tried to prevent the sale of projects and expose corruption was subjected to warning and deportation by the beneficiary forces.
    The head of the Planning and Projects Committee of the Sulaymaniyah Provincial Council, Ramadan Namiq, said in a statement that the financial control report revealed projects without priorities and no receipts, and no one knows how they were implemented and how much they cost.
    He continued: It is interesting that the employee who exposed corruption in direct implementation projects had to take unpaid leave and stop working.
    On October 20, 2022, the Sulaymaniyah Governorate Municipality Directorate decided to seize 20 engineers and employees on charges of “corruption.”
    According to a document obtained by the obelisk, an administrative order issued by the director of the municipality, Laila Omar Ali, stipulates the “withdrawal of hand” from 20 engineers and employees working for the municipality presidency.
    At the beginning of last September, it was revealed that the owner of a residential project in Sulaymaniyah did not comply with the agreement with the purchaser of the project units, in corruption involving influential figures in Sulaymaniyah.
    Activist Mahmoud Yassin Kordi talks about examples of the absence of social and occupational justice, where a university professor in Sulaymaniyah used to receive a salary of 400,000 dinars, while an activist receives 6 million dinars as a salary of an undersecretary and has never been an employee in the Kurdistan Region.
    The people complain about members of the ruling families in Sulaymaniyah who receive salaries in the millions, even after leaving their positions, whether deputies or officials, in a clear exploitation of wealth at the expense of the poor and limited-income.
