Commerce issues a decision to deliver the entire food basket and prevent its fragmentation

Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the start of increasing the items of the food basket for those covered by social care and those with limited income, while it revealed a decision that prevents the division of food basket items, and confirms the delivery of the full ration to citizens.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "It was done, in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, to add the families covered by the Cabinet's decision that includes improving and increasing the items of the food basket to food agents in each geographical area within the next meals, So that those covered by social care are equipped with the new additions approved by the Council of Ministers.
He added, "Commerce has completed the procedures for securing foodstuffs for those covered by social care, and all stores contain the required quantities, and there is no problem with the processing process, as quick measures have been taken in order to include social care families with the materials approved by the Council of Ministers."
And he continued: “We started distributing within the sector of each geographical area, especially since the ministry has experience in this matter, as it used to supply those covered with additional flour material, and we have high-level coordination with food companies for the purpose of securing materials such as zero flour, in addition to the need for wheat and mills, where it was decided The subject is completely covered, and the ministry is currently heading to equip the entire vocabulary for social welfare families.
And he stressed, "All the new additives are ready and in stock, with the exception of zero flour, until it is dealt with through civil and government mills," pointing out that "the materials will be fully prepared."
He pointed out that "the ministry issued a decision that strictly prohibits the division of materials during processing, and each citizen is handed his full share of (7 basic materials), and any shortage is borne by the agent and the ration center within the geographical area sector."
He noted that "the ministry is proceeding towards the continuation of the food basket by 6 items with flour, to be 7 basic items, and 5 items added to social welfare families, which will be the ration card supportive of this group of society due to the high food prices."
Hanoun added, "The ministry is also moving towards implementing the Cabinet's decision to include citizens whose salary is less than two million dinars in the food basket, after the withholding included those with salaries of one and a half million or more, and therefore the new decision will include a large number of citizens who were withheld due to previous cabinet decision.
Last Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce confirmed the existence of sufficient stocks of foodstuffs for the coming months, while indicating that it is working to implement the Cabinet’s decision to increase its items for those covered by social care and those with limited income.
