    Baghdad today -
Today, Monday, the governor of Sulaymaniyah, Haval Abu Bakr, sent a strongly worded message to the two main parties in the Kurdistan region, while warning of social divisions within the Kurdish society.
Abu Bakr said, addressing the National Union and the Democratic Party in a press conference followed by (Baghdad Today): "The political conflict that the Kurdistan region is currently witnessing has had a great impact on the economy, governance, services, peace and stability."
He added, "The main political parties must understand how their differences and wars will have a significant impact on the reality of society."
He pointed out that "this conflict between the parties comes at a time when the wounds of the civil war and the battle of ISIS have not healed, and we have not been able to console the families of our martyrs and the Anfal victims who were killed during the time of the defunct regime."
Today, Monday, an informed political source revealed an upcoming visit by the US representative for the Middle East, Brett McGurk, to the Erbil Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The source said in an interview with (Baghdad Today) that "McGurk will meet during his visit to Erbil, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, and the presidents of the region and the government, in addition to holding a meeting with the deputy prime minister of the region, Qubad Talabani."
He added that "McGurk will also visit Sulaymaniyah and meet with Pavel Talabani, to discuss several files, most notably oil and gas and the differences between the two ruling parties in the region," noting that "McGurk will try to play a mediating role between the two parties, after matters reached a dead end."
The White House Coordinator for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Brett McGurk, is visiting the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where the official of the Department of External Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Sven Dziye, confirmed today, Monday, in press statements followed by (Baghdad Today) that the US Coordinator for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Brett McGurk will visit Erbil to meet a number of officials.
The differences between the Union and Democratic parties have reached their climax, according to observers, especially after a delegation from the region headed by Masrour Barzani visited the capital, Baghdad, without the participation of representatives from the National Union, as the latter considered it a marginalization of the party.
The dispute between Baghdad and Erbil over the oil file remains an unresolved issue for more than two decades, and the United States called, earlier, on the two governments to negotiate this dispute and benefit from the United Nations mission in charge of assistance.
