The Ministry of Migration and Displacement has resumed its income-generating projects for the displaced returning to their liberated areas of residence.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ali Abbas Jhakir, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": The ministry has coordinated with international organizations in order to improve the situation of displaced families returning to their areas of original residence in order to improve their living conditions and provide them with material support, by resuming the implementation of their income-generating projects. . The Ministry had approved these projects since 2012, but their implementation was fluctuating due to the country's annual budgets, and the amounts allocated at the time for the projects did not meet the actual need for the numbers of families covered by them.
Jhakir stated that the income-generating projects will be implemented differently during the current year, unlike what was previously approved in terms of financial allocation, that is, there was no unified number for the amounts of each project, as a plan for income-generating projects was prepared in a proportional manner between the numbers of covered families and the different projects. .
He pointed out that the projects are awaiting approval of the 2023 budget, as two billion dinars have been allocated for the establishment of income-generating projects, and the amount allocated for each project ranges between one million and 500 thousand dinars to two million and 500 thousand dinars, according to the idea of the project chosen by each family.
A spokesman for the Ministry revealed that the number of families targeted by the project has reached 1,000, noting that most of the projects will be distributed within the areas of return, and for the most vulnerable.
The ideas of income-generating projects differ, according to the family's skill, between cooking, blacksmithing, and carpentry, in addition to sewing, barbering, and other professions that the returning family masters, according to their experience.
