The former director of the Iraqi -Iranian Chamber of Commerce , Mahdi Karami , revealed today , Tuesday, that foreign travelers and Iranians to Iraq have difficulty obtaining US dollars or any other foreign currency , due to government restrictions .
Karami said , according to what Iran International reported and translated (Baghdad Today), that things got so bad that he personally could not get a taxi in Iraq, because he was unable to exchange the Iranian currency for the local currency, as a result of the exchange outlets’ fear of dealing in foreign currencies as a result of the restrictions . government imposed _ In response to American wishes .
A member of the Chamber of Commerce and a businessman , Ali Shariati, confirmed to the Iranian agency that the Iraqi media "presents Iran as the main reason for the current dollar crisis and inflation in the Iraqi dinar , as a result of Iraq's commercial dealings with Tehran," he said .
The agency also indicated that Iraq's accession , under American pressure , to the American FITF initiative led to the current crisis , which led directly to the depreciation of the Iraqi dinar , stressing that "the Iraqi economy is now beginning to feel the effects of that step ," she said .
