Baghdad / Obelisk: The leader of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Fadel Al-Fatlawi, described, on Tuesday, the statements of the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Imad Al-Asadi, about the unknown fate of the revenues of Najaf Airport, as “strange.”
Al-Fatlawi said, “The statements of the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Imad al-Asadi, are strange and far from professional,” noting that “Najaf Airport is an investment and its money goes to the local government, which in turn transfers it to the state treasury.”
He added that “the competent regulatory authorities should summon the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Imad al-Asadi, regarding his statements to find out the reason for making such statements,” asking: “How can the state not know about such large revenues, with the presence of monitoring bodies such as the Financial Supervision Bureau, the Integrity Commission, and others?”
Al-Asadi said, in a televised interview followed by Al-Masalla, that “Najaf Airport has no authority and we do not know its identity.”
He added, "The federal airports are Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, and Dhi Qar, which is under construction, but Kirkuk and Najaf airports are for investment," adding, "But the Najaf airport permit has problems because of the investing company that left work for unknown reasons."
He stressed that "Najaf Airport is not affiliated with us, and it is equivalent to Baghdad Airport in terms of visits and revenues, and we do not know where its revenues go."
