Today, Tuesday, Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport revealed the size of its revenues and the mechanism for their distribution, while expressing its readiness to receive government delegations to check on revenues.
The director of the airport, Hikmat Ahmed, told the Iraqi News Agency: "Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport has been my investment since its inception, and has been affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers."
He explained that "the airport's revenues come from aircraft rentals, and the payment of tourism companies operating at the airport, as they are checked by specialized accountants, oversight and integrity, and then the money goes to an accredited bank in the airport's account," noting that "these revenues are partly paid for the accumulated debts owed by the airport, amounting to 67 million dollars, in addition to the payment of employee salaries and other needs.
He stressed that "the airport has so far paid 20 million dollars of the value of the accumulated debts," pointing out that "the airport is ready to receive any official government delegations to check on returns."
