Shafaq News/ On Friday, the Parliamentary National Product Bloc accused unnamed parties of cooperating with tourism companies, of exploiting the window of selling currency to travelers by smuggling dollars abroad.
The head of the bloc, Ibtisam Al-Hilali, told Shafaq News agency, "Hundreds of citizens who intend to travel stand daily, from sunrise to sunset, in front of the gates of Al-Rafidian and Al-Rashid Banks and other governmental and private banks, waiting for a notification from the employees to enter the bank to deposit the dinar and receive the dollar from the outlets, according to the official exchange rate." However, the approved context and the corruption process prevented citizens from receiving the dollar at the official rate and forced them to buy dollars from the black market.

She added, "There are parties that control the window for selling currency to travelers in cooperation with some tourism companies and employees of some government and private banks," pointing out that "this process gave legitimacy to those parties by obtaining dollars and smuggling them abroad."
And Al-Hilali indicated, "The process of selling the dollar to travelers did not contribute to a decrease in the parallel exchange rate, but rather gave legitimacy to the smuggling of the dollar, which caused an increase in prices, and the exchange rate of the dollar became 1,600 dinars."
Al-Hilali called on the Prime Minister and Governor of the Central Bank to intervene urgently and visit the outlets selling dollars to travelers in private governmental banks to deter corrupt people and prevent them from smuggling dollars abroad.
