The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed the value of the Kurdistan region's share of the federal budget.
Committee member Jamal Cougar said in a press interview seen by “Takadum” that “the share of the Kurdistan region in the budget amounted to 12.67%, or approximately 16 trillion dinars, according to the figures carried by the government project, provided that oil exports, revenues from border crossings and advances that I paid the salaries of the district employees.”
He added, “These allocations are for one year only, so it is difficult to adopt them for three years, and this matter depends on the government that adopted the budget, in addition to the lack of a guarantee to work with these numbers, in light of the change in resources.”
Cougar explained that “the draft government federal budget law granted a share to the Kurdistan region less than it was in 2023,” pointing out that “there are no compensations for not including a share for the region in the food security law within the draft federal budget law for the next 3 years.”
