Baghdad Governorate has prepared new procedures that will be approved early next May to operate private and governmental generators in line with the instructions of the Prime Ministry.
The technical assistant to the Governor of Baghdad, Haider Wali Abbas, told Al-Sabah: The governorate took, in light of the instructions of the Prime Ministry, to prepare reports revealing the hours of national electricity supply, especially at the end and beginning of each month, and to monitor any collusion that occurs and causes the electricity to be cut off during this period, measures that included the formation of formed teams. From the officials of the energy committees in the administrative units as well as the security forces supporting them in order to view the account register that includes the names of the subscribers and the hours of supply, taking into account the standard of living of the citizens and the status of the national electricity in it and the generators that receive fuel rations.
He added that the governorate will, in the event that the contractor receives more amounts than the price approved by the governorate, which is 10 thousand for the golden lines and 5 thousand for the night line, in addition to 7 thousand for the regular line, to retrieve them and deliver them to the citizens.
Abbas explained that the beginning of next May will witness a clear change in the mechanisms of providing citizens with generator lines in light of the new measures taken by the governorate, calling on citizens to submit their complaints through the hotlines of the governorate or through the energy committees in the administrative units or the governorate, because the success of the campaign requires cooperation.
He pointed out that the governorate may work to remove the generator in the event of a repeat violation, stressing that the governorate emphasized the need to prepare legal and judicial legislation to prevent the release of violators on bail after taking pledges from them, because police stations release them in exchange for a bail because there is no legal legislation.
