    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Oil announced the advantages of the gas system added to vehicles in terms of economic and environmental aspects, while setting the date for implementing the decision to oblige taxis to add the system.
The director of the car gas department in the ministry, Azhar Fadel Abdel-Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), which was followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the decision to convert cars to a gas system was issued in 2017, and stipulated that taxis be required to add the liquid gas system by instructing the authorities The relevant, and the application is when updating and issuing the document for the vehicle, and indeed the decision was applied in January of the year 2019, except that in November of the same year the Council of Ministers issued Resolution No. 410, which referred to the delay and postponement of the implementation of this paragraph.
Abdul Hussein explained, "Decision No. 135 of 2022 included the implementation of this paragraph starting from January 2024, and includes all taxis, as any taxi that needs an annual issuance sends the vehicle to the gas filling company for the purpose of adding the gas system."
He added, "The decision was issued and its implementation will be early next year, and the Ministry of Oil is communicating with the Traffic Department for the purpose of holding a meeting and finding and setting up a mechanism to implement the decision," noting that "most taxis are working to add the system at the present time on a voluntary basis."
He pointed out, "The addition of the gas system to taxis brings economic and environmental benefits to the citizen, as the liquid gas used in cars is a local production and is sold to the citizen at a price of 200 dinars, i.e. half the value of gasoline and its specifications as gas compared to improved gasoline, as it preserves the vehicle's engine." It also achieves an economic feasibility for the citizen in addition to the important environmental feasibility of the country.
He pointed out that "the number of vehicles added to the gas system amounted to about 45,000 vehicles, and the decision targeted taxis, describing their owners as the poorest class and needing more fuel consumption than other vehicles."
And regarding the gas system workshops, the Director of Automotive Gas stated, “There are 26 workshops to add the gas system spread in the governorates of Iraq, 8 in Baghdad and 18 distributed among the rest of the governorates, and in each workshop there are maintenance centers that provide services free of charge for a year, as the citizen is granted a card Maintenance He can review every two months even if he does not have a malfunction, and after the free year has passed, he can visit the maintenance center on an annual basis.
He noted that "the gas system is not replaced unless it is completely consumed, as parts of it are replaced when an electrical failure occurs."
And he added, "The ministry has set instructions and warnings to the citizen regarding manipulation or change in the system, since the subject is specialized and concerned with the gas filling services company," stressing that "the workers on the system are trained outside Iraq on the mechanism of the system, its connection and how to address problems."
Abdul Hussein called on citizens not to "resort to local markets or manipulate the system, because that exposes them to danger and the system to damage," noting that "there are no problems with the system in the event of high temperatures, but rather the rise gives it higher efficiency, in addition to the presence of 7 safety valves." It is not found in the petrol system.
