"The directorate has exceeded 45 percent of the automation project, and it is one of the important projects to control water scarcity," said Ammar al-Jubouri, director general of the water directorate in the ministry, stressing that "the launch of automation will reduce unjustified water use by citizens."
He added, "The percentage of wastage of potable water has reached 40 percent, due to improper use of water and faulty networks," adding, "There is a tendency to repair faults and breaks in 7 governorates, and the campaign will include the rest of the governorates."
He pointed out, "The governorates are bound by the directives of the central government, to apply automation in a serious and effective manner," noting that "water automation is an electronic meter device that will determine the quantities of water used by the citizen, and the latter will pay the bill for its use."
He explained, "Water automation is a project that is applied in all countries of the world, and that these procedures and directives must be respected, because it is a public interest, and not targeting the citizen."
