    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Public Municipalities announced the importance of the water automation project, stressing that the completion rate of the project exceeded 45 percent, while indicating that there is a tendency to repair water network failures in 7 governorates.
The Director General of the Water Directorate in the ministry, Ammar al-Jubouri, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the directorate has exceeded 45 percent of the automation project, and it is one of the important projects to control water scarcity," stressing that "the launch of automation will reduce the use of unjustified water by the citizens."
He added, "The percentage of wastage of potable water has reached about 40 percent, due to improper use of water and faulty networks," adding, "There is a tendency to repair faults and breaks in 7 governorates, and the campaign will include the rest of the governorates."
He pointed out, "The governorates are bound by the directives of the central government, to apply automation seriously and effectively," noting that "water automation is an electronic meter device that will determine the quantities of water used by the citizen, and the latter will pay the bill for its use."
He explained, "Water automation is a project that is applied in all countries of the world, and that these procedures and directives must be respected, because it is a public interest, and not targeting the citizen."
