    Today, Tuesday (August 29, 2023), the Ministry of Electricity discussed with the Chinese Shanghai Company financing and plans to implement electricity projects in the country.
    The ministry said, in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "the Undersecretary for Transport and Distribution Affairs (Nizar Qahtan Al-Tamimi) chaired a meeting with the Chinese Shanghai Company within the framework of maintaining strategic partnerships within the framework agreement, and in light of government programs and plans designed to support the electricity sector."
    Al-Tamimi stressed, "The government and the ministry support work with solid and manufactured companies, and our partnerships are not new with Shanghai, as we worked on successful and important projects, based on the common interests between the two countries, and we look forward to moving forward with new projects such as installing the combined cycle at the Mansouriya station, and maintaining the units of Al-Hartha station." And the expansion of Wasit thermal station and its comprehensive maintenance.
    For his part, the Executive Director of the Shanghai Company expressed his pride in the ministry's confidence in their projects, and that the Chinese government is aware of and attaches great importance to Iraq and the Ministry of Electricity through the (Road and Belt) initiative.
    The director of the company added, according to the statement, "We are working with (Sanyo Shore) to obtain financing to implement new steps with electricity in Iraq, and before implementing the stations, we want to work on the transport sector and train Iraqi staff, and we will introduce all modern technologies, and are ready to work in the field of renewable energies."
    While the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity recommended that maps and technical studies be presented on the nature of the development of the network, revealing that a conference will be announced in which the investment opportunities available by the government will be announced, and we hope that the Chinese company will compete for what will be presented during it, stressing the necessity of securing financing for the projects it adopts.
