    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, this afternoon, Sunday (September 17, 2023), made a phone call with the Prime Minister of the Federal Council, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, after the Council of Ministers voted today to lend the region more than two trillion dinars.
A statement by the regional government received by “Baghdad Today” stated that Barzani expressed, during the phone call, “his thanks and gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support in reaching an agreement on the issue of salary recipients in the Kurdistan region.”
Barzani also expressed his "hope that this agreement will be the basis for resolving all outstanding problems between the Kurdistan region and the federal government, through dialogue and in accordance with the constitution and signed agreements."
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, announced earlier today, Sunday (September 17, 2023), that an agreement had been reached with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to secure the salaries of the region’s employees.
Barzani said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today”: We were able to defend the rights of the people of Kurdistan, and reach a fruitful agreement with Federal Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani to secure citizens’ salaries.
Parliamentary sources revealed that the Council of Ministers voted during its currently held session to lend the Kurdistan region 2.1 trillion dinars as a three-month loan, at a rate of 700 billion dinars per month, to finance the salaries of Kurdistan employees who have not received their salaries for the months of June, July, and August yet.
It is noteworthy that Al-Sudani confirmed, on Thursday (September 14, 2023), the government’s seriousness in finding radical solutions to deal with the Kurdistan region.
