The Turkish Statistics Authority announced on Saturday that Iraq was the third largest importer from Turkey last August, indicating an increase in exports and a decrease in Turkish imports by 1.6% and 6.9%, respectively.
The authority stated, in its report, that “Turkey’s exports for the month of August amounted to 21 billion and 615 million dollars, recording an increase of 1.6 percent, compared to the same month of the year 2022,” indicating that “Turkey’s imports in August recorded 30 billion and 271 million dollars, a decrease.” 6.9%, for the same period in 2022.”
She added, "Iraq came third in Turkey's exports to countries around the world during last August, with a value of one billion and 91 million dollars, while Germany was the main partner country for exports with 1 billion and 782 million dollars, followed by the United States of America second with 1 billion and 323." million dollars, then the United Kingdom came fourth with 1 billion and 63 million dollars, and Italy came fifth with 875 million dollars,” indicating that “the percentage of the first five countries in total exports reached 28.4% in August 2023.”
Iraq imports most goods, merchandise and foodstuffs from neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iran, and to a lesser extent from the Arab Gulf countries and Jordan.
