The Ministry of Planning announced on Thursday that Baghdad needs 850,000 housing units.
Ministry spokesman Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi said in an interview with Al-Furat News Agency, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Ministry estimates the actual need for housing units throughout the country at 3 million or slightly less.”
He added, "The capital, Baghdad, needs about 850,000 housing units, and it is considered the largest need, as it represents a third of Iraq's need."
Al-Hindawi continued, "The least of them is Al-Muthanna Governorate, with 250,000 housing units, which is the governorate with the least population and the least need for housing units."
