    Baghdad Today - Translation
Today, Wednesday (November 1, 2023), the British newspaper The Economist described the Israeli army’s operations to storm and occupy the Gaza Strip, as it would expose them to “a shock greater than that which the American forces were exposed to in Fallujah,” as it put it.
The newspaper explained in a report translated by “Baghdad Today” that “a combination of multiple factors, the most important of which is Hamas’ continued control of the Gaza Strip for seventeen years and its construction of a network of strong defenses, in addition to the inability of the Israeli army to fight inside cities, will lead to a “disaster” in view. To what happened in Fallujah and Mosul afterwards, which said that the terrorist organization ISIS was only able to control it and build defenses for two years .
She continued, "Given the previous lessons in the Fallujah and Mosul operations, Gaza will be a greater shock for the Israeli forces than what the United States faced in Fallujah and the international coalition and the Iraqi forces in Mosul," explaining, "The great intelligence role of citizens had an impact in achieving victory over the terrorist organization ISIS." “The residents of the city of Mosul provided valuable intelligence information to the Iraqi forces during their operations, which is not available to the Israeli forces in Gaza .”
The Israeli efforts to storm and occupy the Gaza Strip were accompanied by warnings issued by specialists, politicians, and the international community, of the consequences of Israel falling into “a quagmire worse than the one to which the American forces were exposed in Iraq,” in reference to the term used by the American administration to describe the involvement of its forces in Iraq after 2003 .
The newspaper indicated that the Hamas movement now “has the advantage” in fighting on the ground after running out of targets that the Israeli air force can hit, and Hamas’s tactics changed towards “dynamic movement relying on the network of defenses it built inside the Gaza Strip,” stressing that Israel’s operations in Gaza and on The opposite of those in Mosul and Fallujah will lead to “massive human losses” given the method that the Israeli forces currently adopt in carrying out their operations and constantly targeting civilian areas .
Dr. Anthony King, a researcher at the University of Exeter, told the newspaper, “In contrast to the military operations in Mosul, in which local residents were helping the official forces to liberate them from ISIS, the Israeli forces do not have the same relationship with the residents of the Gaza Strip, which would make it difficult for them to obtain intelligence information.” " It is almost impossible to move its forces on the ground ."
King's statements confirmed that Israeli forces will enter the Gaza Strip without intelligence information, and will attempt to control it by trying to force Hamas fighters to leave, which cannot be achieved given that the initiative will be in the hands of Hamas fighters who rely on a network of tunnels and defenses that enable them to attack Israeli forces. On their terms .
The Economist also pointed out the political and diplomatic pressure that Israel will be exposed to in the event of an invasion of the Gaza Strip as a result of the large number of civilian casualties expected to increase exponentially as a result of the Israeli movement, which will lead to negative results, including a “decline” in international support for the Tel Aviv government. And increasing Palestinian insistence on resisting Israeli forces .
The newspaper concluded its report by emphasizing that Israeli intelligence efforts had previously suffered a "miserable failure" after failing to anticipate a Hamas attack on October 7, suggesting that the indicators show that Israeli forces entering the Gaza Strip would be like blindly entering a hostile area.
