    Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture completed its preparations to distribute modern irrigation systems among all farmers and ensure the stability of agricultural product prices, while indicating the opening of tomato imports after a scarcity in the vegetable market.
    Undersecretary of the Minister of Agriculture, Mehdi Sahar, said in an interview followed by Al-Maalouma, that “coordination has been made with the Ministry of Water Resources to approve the agricultural plan for approximately one million and 500 thousand dunums of irrigated areas, while approximately 4 million dunums will be dependent on groundwater,” indicating that “The possibility of reconsidering the plan after mid-November and increasing the areas covered by tourist irrigation.”
    He added that the Ministry "worked to ensure the distribution of modern irrigation systems among farmers through its contract with the Ministry of Industry and then distributed among farmers through the Modern Technologies for Irrigation Systems Project," indicating that "the Ministry has other contracts with reputable international companies in the production of modern irrigation systems that will be distributed in "In the next few days, all governorates will cover the largest possible area with fixed and pivot irrigation systems, as these technologies will increase yields and rationalize water drainage."
    He explained, "The shift towards modern irrigation systems began during the last season, after we noticed an increase in the yields marketed to the Ministry of Commerce to 5 million and 200 thousand tons, achieving self-sufficiency in flour and not importing it from abroad," pointing out that the Ministry "adopts the agricultural calendar." It depends on the abundance and scarcity of crops.”
    Regarding the import of crops, Sari said: “The import of tomatoes was opened after a scarcity occurred in this crop due to the end of the summer season and the start of work on producing winter crops. We believe that the coming period will witness an abundance of production and stability in prices, and among the most important crops that are witnessing an abundance are potato crops.” Of which we are preparing to export the surplus.” Ended/25
