    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Military targeting operations against Popular Mobilization Forces targets by American drones in Jurf al-Sakhar and Abu Ghraib have revived the debate about the nature of the forces present, until the matter reached an escalation in rejection of the American presence, “even if it is advisory.”
Today, Saturday (November 25, 2023), Representative Ali Niama revealed serious political dialogues to remove American forces from Iraq.
Nimah said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “Washington or any other country’s use of the terrorism card to mix the cards in Iraq has become weak for three reasons: the readiness of the security forces in their various formations and their accumulated experience, in addition to the fact that we are facing a very weak organization that has lost its ability to launch attacks and control.” On the sites,” indicating that “there are only remnants of it left fleeing in remote areas, and they are constantly being pursued, meaning that betting on ISIS is a loser.”
He added, "Al-Sudani stated in more than one meeting that Iraq does not need any foreign combat force in the country. This is confirmation that the security conditions are stable and there is no need for any combat presence anywhere on Iraqi soil."
He pointed out that "there is a parliamentary and political movement accompanied by serious dialogues in order to formulate paths to remove American forces from Iraq, with the emphasis that the embassy's survival is normal, but in accordance with the international agreement, which specifies that it, like others, operate according to the principle of mutual interests, that is, a normal relationship."
He pointed out that "all countries realize after 2014 that terrorism is a danger that affects their capitals, even if it is hundreds of kilometers away from them, because it is a cancerous scourge and its spread to them is something that no one disagrees about. Therefore, the general situation is different, and Iraq is currently stronger in confronting ISIS and other terrorist organizations."
The attacks launched by American drones on Popular Mobilization Forces positions in Jurf al-Nasr revived the debate about the nature of the American forces present in Iraq, and many considered them to have “undermined the narrative” that the forces present are advisory forces.
The government that agreed to the presence of combat forces "will be held accountable"
Yesterday, Friday, the Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Qais Khazali, considered that the government does not have the right to give approval for the establishment of foreign bases and the presence of combat forces in Iraq, considering that if there is a government that gave this approval, it must be held accountable.
Al-Khazali said in televised statements followed by “Baghdad Today” that “the American military presence violates the Iraqi constitution,” noting that “the Iraqi request in 2014 included directing air strikes and providing intelligence aid only and did not include the establishment of military bases and the presence of combat forces.”
He added, "The Constitution does not approve of foreign bases or the presence of combat forces except with the approval of Parliament," noting that "there is a play on words in Iraq's request regarding assistance from the international coalition."
He pointed out that "the government does not have the right to approve the establishment of foreign bases and the presence of combat forces," noting that "if there is a government that gives approval, then it has violated its powers and will be held accountable."
Al-Nujaba calls for “declaration of war”
Last Thursday, the Secretary-General of the Al-Nujaba Movement, Akram Al-Kaabi, called for a “declaration of war” on America and its expulsion from Iraq.
A statement from the movement received by "Baghdad Today" stated, "Any American presence cannot be accepted in any form, whether in the capacity of combat forces, advisors, or technicians. This is considered a hostile presence from an arrogant state hostile to Iraq."
The statement pointed out that "the Islamic resistance in Iraq will translate its words and will into the field," according to the statement.
This came after an American bombing that targeted headquarters and targets, killing a number of members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, in Jurf al-Sakhar and Abu Ghraib.
