    The Ministry of Agriculture has begun field survey work on the agricultural lands surrounding Baghdad International Airport for the Al-Rafail residential city project, which covers an area of ​​106 thousand dunums, confirming that the survey work has a time limit not exceeding two months. 
    The Al Rafael Residential City project, which will accommodate 600,000 people, will be implemented in four phases, which will be presented as investment opportunities. The first will include the establishment of residential, educational, medical, commercial, service, and entertainment complexes. The second will be allocated to logistical and service projects adjacent to the airport, while the third will be designated for agricultural and food projects. The fourth will cover vast lands. From Abu Ghraib District, north and west of the airport.
    The Director General of the Agricultural Lands Department in the Ministry, Ali Hammoud Al-Shammari, said that the staff of his department began conducting a comprehensive field survey of agricultural lands within the area surrounding Baghdad International Airport, related to the Al-Rafail residential project, which has an area of ​​106 thousand dunums, indicating that the project will be a supportive administrative capital parallel to its counterparts in other countries. Neighborhood.
    He promised the future residential city of Al-Rafail, one of the large and important investment projects in the capital, as it will be characterized by wide green spaces, and the establishment of residential complexes that will effectively contribute to solving the housing crisis in Baghdad with educational, commercial, medical, service and entertainment complexes, stressing that direct work on the project will begin within the next two years. (2024 – 2025).
    In the same context, Al-Shammari indicated that his department held a meeting at its headquarters with members of the Diwani Order Committee formed by the Council of Ministers, to discuss the work of surveying agricultural lands for the Al-Rafail residential city project, noting that the work of surveying agricultural lands was set for a time limit not exceeding two months. 
    The Diwani Order Committee for the project consists of the Prime Minister’s Office, the General Authority for Investment and Survey, the Departments of Agricultural Lands, Roads, Bridges, State Real Estate, and Land Registration, the Baghdad Agriculture Directorate, the Capital Secretariat, and the Ministries of Water Resources, Oil, and Electricity. 
    The Director General of the Agricultural Lands Department revealed that there has been no clear design for the city’s administrative plan (Master Plan) since the previous government, despite the latter granting seven investment opportunities within the project. He appealed to the Prime Minister to develop a clear vision for it after long discussions that took place about the project and the preparation of a design study. And a field survey, thus preparing a “Master Plan” for the city in order to begin implementing it within the specified time.
