The official spokesman for the government, Bassem Al-Awadi, said in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News, “The Iraqi government expresses its support for the position of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, regarding the blatant violations occurring in Gaza, and his activation of Article 99 of the Charter.”United nations, which gives the Secretary-General the power to “draw attentionSecurity CouncilIt also commends what Guterres indicated that what has been happening in Gaza for several weeks represents a threat to international peace and security.”

He added, “We are in[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]We affirm that the disasters that occurred as a result of this aggression have led to a human tragedy that requires urgent international intervention to stop it. We have alerted, from the first day of the aggression in Gaza, to the necessity of uniting all responsible international efforts. In order for events not to slide into undesirable consequences,” he pointed out that the consequences of the aggression carried out by the forces of the usurping entity had caused thousands of victims.

He continued, "We have repeatedly emphasized that it is not fair to equate the victim with the killer, and that what has been happening since October 7 is inseparable from the accumulations of oppression, usurpation of rights, and ongoing violations in the Palestinian territories."
