Representative Waad Al-Qaddo confirmed, on Saturday, that it is not acceptable for the American embassy in Baghdad to be the guardian of 40 million Iraqis.
Speaking to the Maalouma Agency, Al-Qaddu said, “Until now, it is not known who targeted the American embassy in Baghdad, and there are ongoing investigations by the relevant authorities, but at the same time, we stress the need for the embassy to respect itself and adhere to international covenants and conventions, and not Working according to the principle that it is the guardian of 40 million Iraqis.”
Al-Qaddo added, "The American embassy arouses the feelings of Iraqis through its interventions, and asks why it does not target the rest of the international embassies," stressing that "crossing lines will create problems and lead to crises, and the embassy must realize that its presence comes in accordance with international pledges."
He pointed out that "targeting the embassy is not the first, and there are several parties with goals behind previous and current incidents, noting that "investigations will reveal the facts in the end, but the embassy must respect its legal status and not interfere in internal affairs." Ended/25F
