Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, on Wednesday, that the security services will provide protection for about 9,000 electoral centers on the day of private and public voting during the local elections scheduled to be held in the country in the middle of next week.
This came in a press conference held by the Joint Operations Command regarding the security plan for the provincial and district council elections today in Baghdad, and it was attended by a Shafaq News Agency correspondent.
Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Miqdad Miri said during the conference that the security services have completed their preparations and plans for the 2023 provincial and district council elections.
He added that the security services will provide protection to approximately 8,960 electoral centers throughout the regions and cities of the country, indicating that this number includes private and public polling centers, prisons, and displaced persons.
The speaker detailed these centers as follows: 8,273 public polling centers, 595 private polling centers, 96 polling stations for displaced persons, and 6 polling stations for prisons.
Merry stressed the prohibition of flying drones for photography and other purposes on private and public voting days except with the approval of joint operations, and the prohibition of all human gatherings and demonstrations in all their forms without obtaining fundamental approvals, calling on voting citizens not to bring mobile phones.
He stressed the prohibition of carrying all weapons, even those approved on polling day, stressing the existence of high flow, no cuts, no curfews, and no closure of land, sea and air ports throughout the country.
