    Today, Thursday (January 25, 2024), the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, announced the region’s support for the agreement to resume the work of the Supreme Military Committee between Iraq and the United States.
    Barzani said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "We welcome the agreement of the Iraqi federal government with the American government to resume the work of their Supreme Military Committee (HMC) and the progress of talks on bilateral relations and the future of joint cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, security and military fields."
    He added, "The Kurdistan Region supports this agreement and will cooperate and help protect the safety, security, stability and sovereignty of the country and strengthen relations on the basis of mutual respect and common interests."
    Earlier this evening, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the success of the negotiations between the Iraqi and American governments that began in August 2023 and ended with the necessity of launching the Supreme Military Committee (HMC) to formulate a timetable that paves the way for a gradual withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq.
    While Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi announced, “The Iraqi-American Supreme Military Committee (HMC) will resume its dialogue, in the next few days, with the international coalition countries,” stressing at the same time that “our armed forces are fully prepared for the withdrawal of the coalition forces and to take control of the security file in the country.” "Completely."
