    The Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works announced today, Friday, the use of a new technology in road coverings to increase their resistance, while revealing periodic meetings with the governorates to activate work on weighing stations on highways.
    The Ministry’s spokesman, Istabraq Sabah, said, “All the boundaries of the basic design of Baghdad Governorate are within the responsibility of the Baghdad Municipality, except for the main annual roads and bridges, which are within the responsibility of the Ministry,” indicating that “there are some projects that the Ministry is assigned directly by the Prime Minister in order to Benefiting from the expertise of the Department of Roads and Bridges, as the Ministry was assigned to implement some projects to relieve traffic congestion,” according to the official agency.
    Regarding the rehabilitation of the Baghdad-Erbil road, Sabah explained, “The area of ​​the road is about 600 km, and it passes through several governorates, and therefore the responsibility falls on the governorates through which the road passes, and those governorates are supposed to play their role through the road and bridge departments located in each governorate.” And carry out a maintenance operation for the road,” noting that “the Ministry is ready to maintain this road or any other roads, provided that it is officially assigned.”
    He pointed out that "the current government has paid great attention to providing services to citizens and emphasizing the implementation of projects with the best standards and according to specified timings."
    He pointed out that "regular meetings are held in the Department of Roads and Bridges with the governorates for the purpose of activating work on weighing stations on highways," stressing "the progress of all services, especially infrastructure and road, water and sewage projects, and the Ministry is currently working on a new technology in paving roads for the purpose of increasing their resistance."
