Iraq and Iran sign the minutes of a joint agreement on trade exchange mechanisms and the entry of travelers

[rtl]Baghdad/ NINA /Iraq and Iran signed, today, Wednesday, minutes of a joint agreement regarding mechanisms for trade exchange and the entry of travelers.
A statement by the Border Ports Authority stated, “In continuation of the meeting held in Baghdad on 12/21/2023 between the Border Ports Authority and a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding mechanisms for trade exchange and the entry of travelers, the head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, met with the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic.” Ahmed Wahidi.
The statement added, "On the sidelines of the meeting, a joint report was signed between the two sides with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Affairs, Majeed Mir Ahmadi."
He explained, "The minutes included 11 important paragraphs that serve the movement of passengers and goods, as it was agreed on the following:
1- Generalizing the experience that was used in the last fortieth visit, which was applied at the (Shalamcheh and Zarbatieh) ports, to all land border ports with Iran regarding the transfer of passenger data." From the Iranian port to the Iraqi port to ensure speedy procedures and auditing.
2- Agreement to sign a memorandum of understanding to transfer goods data (bill of lading) electronically between the two ports to ensure speedy procedures and prevent forgery or distortion in the most important document upon which the demarcation process for goods is based.
3- Agreement on weights pivotal according to Iraqi requirements and not allowing large loads to affect the roads.
4- Agreeing to hold a meeting to determine the unofficial ports and crossings that are used for smuggling operations along the border strip and agreeing on mechanisms to close them.
5- Providing the Iranian side with the agricultural calendar to adhere to and preventing the export of goods prohibited under This calendar is in order to protect the local product.
6- Activating cross-border transport (transit) from Iran to neighboring countries via Iraq.
7- Agreement to determine transit routes and routes within the included ports through direct coordination between the administrations of the included Iranian and Iraqi ports.
8- Agreement on the Iranian side’s commitment not to establish any border crossing except after coordination with the Federal Border Ports Authority, based on Article (6-B) of the Authority’s Law No. 30 of 2016, and through diplomatic channels.
9- Intensifying inspections and inspections of people and goods to prevent the passage of weapons or drugs.
10- Establishing direct communication channels between the border crossings of both countries and holding joint meetings on an ongoing basis to address any problems that may occur urgently and immediately.
11- Preventing any levies that are not based on the applicable laws and preventing cases of abuse against drivers and workers by any party when conducting commercial exchange operations./End 8[/rtl]
