The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities confirmed on Thursday that work will soon begin on two new residential cities.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Istabraq Sabah, said in a statement reported by the official news agency and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, “The city of Al-Ghazlani in Nineveh, for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Minister of Construction and Housing, and a number of officials, is... The second in which executive works were launched after Al-Jawahiri City in the capital, Baghdad,” he pointed out, “The new city will be implemented on an area of 4,800 dunums and 28,000 housing units.”
He added, "A condition was imposed on the investor that 15% of these housing units be a state return," noting that "their distribution will depend on criteria, including the most deserving categories."
He stated, “The residential cities project is one of the development projects and plans and planning and technical standards have been set at the highest levels,” adding, “These cities, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, aim to provide suitable housing for families and the fragile and middle segments of society.”
He pointed out that "among the goals is to withdraw population density from the centers of cities and governorates," noting that "these residential cities will contribute to reducing and stabilizing the prices of residential units."
Regarding the new cities in which work will be launched soon, Sabah confirmed that “work will begin soon in the city of Al-Dhifaf in Holy Karbala and Al-Janaina in Babylon.”
