The Parliamentary Endowments Committee seeks to present all existing laws, including the Holidays Law, for the first reading, despite the obstacles that accompany its work because its president has not been elected yet, at a time when there are many problems with it, but it needs political consensus within Parliament in light of
the trend . To be approved soon.
A member of the Parliamentary Endowments Committee, Sherif Suleiman, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: The official holidays law has been reeling in the corridors of the House of Representatives for more than one session, but there is now a tendency to approve it soon, noting that the law was not discussed or presented
for the first and second readings.
He stated that there are no major problems or complications in the law, but it requires time and discussion, in addition to agreement in the committee and among the political blocs, stressing that there are disagreements regarding it, including the number of holidays and some feasts and occasions in determining their date, and some of them are private or public for all Iraqis? It
requires political consensus.
Suleiman pointed out that there are many laws within the committee, and what hinders their passage is that a committee head has not been selected yet, pointing out that it hosted a period of time ago the Christian, Sabian, and Yazidi endowment to discuss their problems and what they need to solve the obstacles facing their work, adding that a report was issued by the committee regarding This endowment and setting a road map for its work.
