    Economy News - Baghdad
On Sunday, the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshlands Committee proposed to the government to launch a round of agricultural licensing to negotiate with Türkiye.
Committee Chairman Faleh Al-Khazali said in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Iraq must be used to resolve all problems between Baghdad and Ankara, most notably water, security, and oil.”
He added, "Iraq after 2014 is a strong Iraq, and the government must deal with foreign files in accordance with common interests, and this must be present during Erdogan's visit."
Al-Khazali noted, "We presented to the government an initiative for an agricultural licensing round. We hope that it will be among the government's priorities in negotiating with Turkey and ensuring a fair share of water from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers."
The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is scheduled to arrive in the capital, Baghdad, tomorrow, Monday, on an official visit, as the visit is expected to witness the signing of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding on bilateral and strategic files, while the Iraqi government confirms that the water files and economic cooperation, especially the development path, will be the most prominent. What will be discussed, while experts believe that the visit will support the government’s vision in implementing projects and establishing strategic partnerships through cooperation with neighboring countries, as well as eliminating crises by resolving outstanding issues.
