Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Representative Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed on Wednesday that the total daily transfers in Iraq reach 250 million dollars.
Al-Karawi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The Central Bank must follow the procedures of private banks and establish a mechanism for distributing cash according to the approved procedures, away from the problems that are observed from time to time, including the traveler’s file.”
He added, "The management of the Central Bank reduced the pressure on the parallel market at a good rate and contributed to lowering exchange rates in the past weeks, which reduced speculation in the markets in a way that gave rise to the obsession with stability."
He pointed out that "whenever exchange rates stabilize, it reflects positively on the markets in general, but parallel market prices remain much higher than central bank prices, which requires greater efforts to reduce the dollar."
The dollar exchange market witnessed a gradual decline in the past weeks, reaching 144,000 per 100 dollars for the first time in about two years.
