[size=45]The Ministry of Oil clarified the details of exploration and investment of oil and gas fields in the western regions.[/size]
[size=45]Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said, “Exploration for oil and gas sites in the western regions is carried out by companies that won and obtained licenses to do so.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, “The patches or fields that have been explored will be started after the contracts are signed by the specialized companies.”[/size]
[size=45]Jihad continued, “The Akkas field is outside the licensing contracts, and it is considered the largest gas field in Iraq,” stressing that “its investment contract was signed with a Ukrainian company, and the site is now being handed over by the Central Oil Company to it.”[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that “oil and gas sites in the western regions provide a safe investment environment that contributes to companies completing their work.”[/size]
[size=45]The Ministry's spokesman expressed his hope that "the rest of the exploratory blocks that were not referred within the licensing round will find their way toward investment in the coming period."[/size]
